The Western Empires, and American society in particular, has developed a long tradition of The Disposable Culture wherein trends, products, packaging, energies and food are all consumed to excess and then thrown away for something newer. This has played no small role in what we are seeing develop as a Necro-Modernity emerges by branching off of Post-Modernity into a fully realized cultural phenomena in its own right. Very possibly the last cultural phenomena we will ever know. Differing from post-apocalyptic scenarios, which, sans apocalypse, are merely speculative rather than active, Necro-Modernity is the precursor to whichever final apocalyptic event beats out the other potential contenders (War, Famine, Plague, Climate Change, et al) for first (and, well, last) place.
